Introduction
The Lund Medical Laser Centre was
formed in October 1991 as an umbrella organization at the Lund
University for co-ordination of research and teaching in the
field of laser applications to medicine. Departments belonging to
four faculties at the Lund University participate in the Centre. The
formation of the Centre followed an almost 10 year long informal
collaboration in Lund between physicians and physicists, recognizing
the fact that interdisciplinary work strongly promotes a rapid
development in new emerging fields.
The Lund University Medical Laser Centre is now a participating unit in the Lund
Laser Centre (LLC), which was established at Lund University on
March 28, 1995. Within LLC, research using lasers, optics and
spectroscopy is performed covering basic atomic, molecular and
chemical physics as well as applications in the energy,
environmental and medical fields.
